Medical Illustration

Medical illustration is a specialized vocation where the practice of creating images that combines visual art, medicine and science to help explain complicated findings, concepts and information. Through the use of various avenues which include but not limited to educational, editorial and promotional, we create didactic medical illustrations that are designed to teach specific medical findings to a specific audience. Some of the areas we cover include anatomical, pathological, trauma, surgical, clinical, cellular and conceptual.

How to request an Illustration and get the ball rolling:
1. Fill out our contact page form and request a meeting to discuss your topic of interest.
2. Meet with the illustrator to discuss the scope of your project, via phone or in person. The particulars would cover the project, audience, type and style of art, publishing, rights, timeline and cost.
3. A written agreement between the artist and the client of fees and terms of the work to be done, and usage rights will be submitted to the client to review, sign and returned to the illustrator prior to work commencing.
4. Research materials, are often supplied by the client (manuscript, photo reference materials, etc).
5. First sketches that show the illustration components and layout will be sent to the client for approval.
6. Second sketches are made for approval after feedback from the client’s first round of sketch reviews.
7. A polished first draft is made to share with the client – this might take several rounds for final draft approval.
8. Final approval of the illustration for publishing usually takes one or two rounds of revisions.
