A most unique art school in Central Ohio is helping art students learn to draw and paint in the way of the old masters.

Cooley Studios is presently enrolling students to study classical academic art in our full-time atelier (private art school). We are different from other art schools and University fine art departments in that we study exclusively from the time honored curriculum of the 19th century European ateliers and academy system, especially the French ateliers.
This system emerged from the practices of the 15th century apprenticeships which produced some of the greatest fine art masters to date.

Using the same progressive step by step pedagogy prescribed by the 19th century European ateliers, we equip our student artists  with pertinent theory and practice to create inspirational highly refined professional works of art. We train the mind to fully engage, the eye to see with greater accuracy and the hand to work flawlessly on command with nimble dexterity. Students trained under this time honored system go on to careers as leading artists in the areas of portraiture, figurative art, landscape, still life, illustrators, animators and more.

Our full-time atelier runs three years, two 16 week semesters per year (Sept – May). We study six hours a day Monday through Friday, first focusing on drawing, mastering each assignment before progressing to painting. We firmly believe studying artists must master both drawing, then painting prior to exploring more creative and expressive art.

We accept 6 students per year, 18 years and up to study in our full-time atelier program. In addition to our full-time atelier, we offers a series of ongoing monthly art classes to anyone interested in learning to draw and paint, absolute beginners who want to learn to draw and paint and  intermediate to advanced artists wishing to enhance their artistic knowledge and skill. If you or anyone you know can benefit from studying at Cooley Studios, please visit our website for classes offered http://cooleystudios.com. For a tour of the studio, please contact us by email (info@cooleystudios.com) or phone (614-547-7900). I look forward to meeting you.
