Block-in Drawing

Block-in Drawing:

Figure Model 22  Figure Model 21

This class will introduce students to a most effective systematic method of breaking down a drawing assignment to its simplest form and creating a clean very accurate depiction. Using the block-in method, one makes careful observations of their subject. Then the student begins drawing a series of a few straight lines based on the angles, tilts and points he/she observed while viewing the subject. This is akin to constructing a scaffolding for a  house or building one intends to build. The student continues making adjustments to the construct until he/she develops an accurate contour drawing. The student will then begin to work no the insde of the drawing with the same meticulous placing of lines until he/she has developed a clean accurate drawing.

This method is the building block for any classical academic drawing. The student will start by making simple block in drawings after master drawings, photo figure drawings and eventually the live model. They will gain enough practical experience to comfortably construct a complex drawings once the class is done.
